Pros
Steep learning curve but long working hours
Cons
Expect long hours and stretched resources. There are often more jobs than people available to handle them, which leads to constant pressure. The quality of engagements can be hit-or-miss, and you may end up on projects that offer little learning value. Although seniors and managers are technically there to support you, some can be sarcastic, impatient, or make you feel inadequate for asking questions. Recognition is also inconsistent, and there are occasions where seniors take credit for work completed by junior team members. If you’re joining because you’ve heard about the firm’s great culture, that reputation may be based on experiences from years ago. The culture today feels very different, and one of the main reasons many employees stay is the flexibility of the work-from-home arrangement.
